URUGUAY DAY TRIP…omg…what a freaking pain!

I was walking around downtown Buenos Aires by myself at 12:30AM as a single female. Not cool!

Score! The ferry from Argentina to Colonia del Sacramento Uruguay is only 1.5 hours one way. Piece of cake. Or, so I thought. This day trip was anything but that. The amount of paperwork ended up being insane, I had to clear customs 3 different times, the return ferry times were limited + super late, they held us on the boat for an extra 45 minutes when we got back, the customs line was a mile long + took an hour clear, + I was walking around downtown Buenos Aires by myself at 12:30AM as a single female. Not cool!

But…it wasn’t all bad.

Colonia del Sacramento Uruguay highlights |
✨ Super cute lil town
✨ Picturesque is an understatement
✨ Easy to explore in 1-2 hours
✨ A couple really nice restaurant options
✨ Got to check off another country

💜 TRAVEL TIP 💜 |
If you plan to visit Uruguay from Buenos Aires, note that you have to fill out paperwork to exit Argentina, paperwork to enter Uruguay, + paperwork to re-enter Argentina. The exit paperwork got past me. Colonia del Sacramento is cut, but I recommend going to Montevideo instead as it’s a bigger city, has more going on, + more to explore. Might want to spend the night as well.
